When setting up a SpiderOak Share account, an account key will be automatically generated as part of the setup process. Account Keys are used for creating new devices and recovering accounts. For example, if a user needs to log in to SpiderOak Share on a new computer the account key will be used as part of the login process.
Once your account key is generated, it is critical that the key be stored safely, ideally with a digital copy in a password manager and a physical copy printed out. Recovery keys cannot be changed or reset. SpiderOak cannot recover account keys. If the account key is lost it is not possible to recover the account.
