If you want to remove all traces of SpiderOak Groups from your computer, uninstall it for troubleshooting purposes, or if you are trying to sign in to a new account and the application is still trying to connect to your old account, all you need to do is follow these instructions.
Quit SpiderOak Groups. Don't just minimize the application, shut it down completely by right clicking on the icon in the system tray, then selecting Quit. Open a search field in Windows. If you are using Windows 7 or earlier, you can find this on your start menu. If you are using Windows 8 or later, type directly into the start screen, which serves as a search field. Type
%LOCALAPPDATA% (with the percent signs) and press enter. Searching for %LOCALAPPDATA% will open a file explorer window called "Application Data" with other folders inside. There will be a folder here named "SpiderOak Groups"; rename or delete it.
Quit SpiderOak Groups. Don't just minimize the application, shut it down completely by clicking on the icon in the menu bar, then selecting Quit. Open a Finder window, then click on the Go menu in the menu bar. While the Go menu is showing, hold down the ALT or OPTION key. When OPTION is held down, the Library folder will become visible. Click on Library, then click into the Application Support folder. There will be a folder here named "SpiderOakGroups"; rename or delete it.
Quit SpiderOak Groups. Don't just minimize the application, shut it down completely by right clicking on the icon in the notification area, then selecting Quit. Rename or delete the ~/.config/SpiderOakGroups directory. ~/.config is a hidden directory, so if you are using a graphical file manager you will first need to set it to display hidden files.
Whether it is best to rename or delete this folder depends upon your objective. If you want to remove all trace of SpiderOak Groups from your computer and do not plan to use it again, delete the folder. Otherwise, it is more prudent to rename it. If renaming it resolves your issue, you may delete the old folder that you renamed. It contains log files that our support team will need should the problem continue, so it would be prudent to hang on to the renamed folder for a few days.
Once you've renamed or deleted the folder, you don't have to download SpiderOak Groups again unless you need to update to a newer version. Start the application and you will be prompted for the email address associated with your account and its password as though you are installing the application for the first time.
