To reinstall SpiderOak on an existing device, first download and install the SpiderOak software on the computer you would like to add.
Launch SpiderOak ONE and select the Sign In link at the bottom of the window. You will be prompted for the email address associated with your account and your password. After logging in, you will see a window containing a list of your device names. Below this list is a button labeled “More Options”. Click this button, then choose to reinstall an existing device and select the name of the device you want to reinstall. You will then go through syndication to set up this device once again with SpiderOak's servers.
Please note that renaming your application data will reset your SpiderOak preferences on this computer. Make sure you review and reset your preferences after you rename the application data folder.
NOTE: You should only reinstall ONE on an existing device if all of your data is in the exact same location. For example, if you reinstalled the operating system on your computer and the ONE desktop application was erased, but your personal data remains in the same location, you should choose that you are reinstalling an existing device. However, if the path names of your files have changed even slightly, ONE will not be able to find the files. ONE will assume these files have been deleted and move the corresponding backups into the Deleted Items bin.
If you reinstall SpiderOak on a device and all your data has been moved to the Deleted Items bin, first, don’t panic! Data in the Deleted Items bin is never automatically purged, so your files will be kept safe here indefinitely.
To restore these files to their original locations or make them ‘live’ again, re-select the data for backup from the correct location. Although SpiderOak seems like it will re-upload the entire data set, the application is in fact de-duplicating your files and only uploading new information.
If you're trying to upload information you know will de-duplicate but ONE is warning you that you will exceed your space limit, please open the Preferences window and check the box which says Disable disk space calculations. This will prevent ONE from estimating how much space the data will take up in your account and displaying an out of space warning message. You can now select the data for upload and SpiderOak will de-duplicate it before uploading it to our servers.
If you have purchased a new computer or if you have changed operating systems, you should add your computer as a new device instead of reinstalling as an existing device. This will prevent SpiderOak from moving your data to the Deleted Items bin. Since the same files are already uploaded to your account from the ‘old’ device, they will still de-duplicate, upload very quickly, and SpiderOak will know they are located on both your old and new devices.
