Each time you modify a file in your backup set, SpiderOak saves the changed file as a new version rather than overwriting the existing file. The previous version of your file then becomes a historical version.
Historical versions only include the information that differs from the previous version; the rest of the file information deduplicates. Most historical versions take up little additional space in your account. For more information see our Deduplication FAQ.
For example, if you're working on a research paper, and add new sections, charts, and other information to it as you go along, ONE just stores these additional items. So, ONE will be able to store all of the historical versions of your research paper using about the same amount of space as would be needed to only store the most recent version.
Documents that have historical versions saved will be followed by a number in parentheses which indicates how many historical versions SpiderOak has saved For example: "file.doc (3)".
If you need instructions on downloading a historical version, please see Recovering Older Versions of a File.
For instructions on how to delete or manage historical versions, see our Deleting and Restricting Historical Versions FAQ.
