The SpiderOak ONE and Groups graphical application only allows you to delete files that were uploaded from the device you are currently seated at. This is by design, to make it harder for a laptop thief to maliciously delete all your files. There are a few ways to delete files that were uploaded from another device, although by design they are not particularly convenient.
Method 1: Delete the files from the computer that uploaded them
It is easiest to sit down at the computer that uploaded the files and delete them from there.
Method 2: Save wanted files, then remove the device
Download any files from that device that you want to keep. Once the files are on your hard disk where you want them, instruct the application to back them up. It will initially appear to start uploading those files all over again, but it will deduplicate them and only update its record of where those files are located. Now you can remove the device, which will delete the files associated with it that you want to delete:
Method 3: --purge
Although the graphical application only allows you to delete files that were uploaded from the device you are currently seated at, advanced users can use the command line option --purge to do this. This is an advanced technique that presupposes some familiarity with the command line. For more information, see --purge.
Method 4: Reinstall the device, then delete the files
You can temporarily reinstall this device on any computer. A device is simply a label that your computer is assigned, and you can install any computer as any device on your account. If you install another computer as this device, SpiderOak ONE or Groups will move all its files to the Deleted Items bin, because it will no longer be able to find them in their original locations. From there you can delete any files you no longer want, and the rest will be stored safely and indefinitely in your Deleted Items bin for this device. You can then uninstall SpiderOak ONE or Groups on this computer, or set it back to its correct device name.
